  • Erste Jukebox Jam in Berlin am 29.5 Little Victor Live!!!

    Niemand spielt den R&B derzeit so authentisch wie Little Victor.
    Tief verwurzelt im Memphis Blues swingt die Harmonica wie bei Jimmy Reed oder Junior Parker.
    Gepaart mit dem Gitarrensound eines Junior Kimbrough oder RL Burnside
    entwickelte er über die Jahre seinen hypnotischen Voodoo Swamp Blues .
    Im zarten Alter von 14 Jahren begann er seine Karriere auf der Beale Street in Memphis.
    Er ging dort - wie alle Bluesgrößen - den harten Weg, spielte 6 Tage in der Woche und legte seinen Hut auf die Straße. Zuletzt arbeitete er mit Grammy Award-Gewinner David Adams oder auch der Legende Lousianna Red zusammen.
    Heute ist er selbst ein Stück amerikanische Rootsgeschichte und tritt im Rahmen von Dynamic Don’s ( Soul Inn) Geburtstagsparty exklusiv im Cortina Bob auf.
    Damit nicht genug: Zum Wiegenfest wurde kurzerhand auch Liam Larges Jukebox Jam Party von London nach Berlin verlegt. Neben Liam werden Tim Warren, Snakester und Dynamic Don selbst den Dancefloor mit feinstem R&B rocken!!!!!

    Er wurde mit der R&B Gruppe den Ravens bekannt!
    Bei seiner tiefen Stimme ist Gänsehaut garantiert und lässt selbst Barry White blass aussehen.

    Auch auf Vol 4 gibt es wieder feinsten R&B, Blues, Tittyshakers und ein bisschen Garage. Wie auf Vol 3 ist der Starter ‘Something Got A Hold On Me’. Diemal von den Shondells! Es gibt eigentlich nur noch eine Hand voll Garagen 45, für die ich viel Geld ausgeben würde, aber diese ist eine davon!
    Das Stück wurde in den 90ziern von Tim Warren auf seiner Teenage Shutdown Reihe veröffentlicht, seit dem suchte ich diese Scheibe, bis sie dann ein Freund vor ein paar Wochen verkaufte.
    Weiter gehts mit dem ‘High Speed’ Garagen Rocker ‘The Girl Can’t Dance’ von Bunker Hill.
    Sollten dir, die ersten Songs doch etwas zu ‘heftig’ sein, steig bei Song Nr.7, ‘If You Ain’t Got No Bread’ von Billy Hamlin, ein.

    Okay, New Orleans Mixe gibt es wie Sand am Meer, besonders nach den bedauerlichen Tod Eddie Bo’s, vor ein paar Wochen.
    Ganz zu schweigen von den offiziellen Compilations,  die es auf dem Markt gibt.
    Aber sind sie nicht alle grandios? Meiner Meinung, alle!
    Bei meinen Mix, wollte ich mich nicht nur der Klassikern bedienen, die uns allen so ans Herz gewachsen sind (ich kam natürlich nicht ohne aus, was die Tracklist zeigt), sondern mehr den typischen relaxten Funky Soul/R&B, der für mich den New Orleans Sound ausmacht.

    Nein, heute gehts nicht um den Toots & The Maytals Song, sondern um ein paar andere Reggae Stücke, die nicht weniger Funky sind. Zwei der Songs, findet mann auch unter der gleichnamigen Compilation. Los gehts mit der wundervollen Phyllis Dillon. Phyllis war sehr vom Soul beeinflusst und ist eine der ganz grossen des Rocksteadys. Viele von euch kennen bestimmt ihre Version, von Marlena Shaw’s Klassiker ‘woman of the ghetto’.
    Die Melodie, des ersten Songs ’skarbuvie’ dürfte den ein oder anderem auch bekannt sein, durch Dave Barker’s ‘funky funky reggae’, den Opener meines zweiten Reggae Mixes. Die B Seite ist nicht weniger funky!
    Aber auch Song drei und vier sind alte bekannte…
    The Studio Sound haben sich den JB’s Klassiker ‘give me some more’ vorgenommen. Über die Band selber, habe ich leider keine Infos. Ich gehe davon aus, dass es sich um eine der Studio Bands handelt, die bei einem Label unter Vertrag waren und mit den jeweiligen Künstlern Songs einspielten. Was ja auch bei den Soullabels wie zb. Motown üblich war.
    Ähnlich dürfte es bei The Darker Shade Of Black sein, die den Temptation Song ‘the darker shades of black’ covern.
    Nun, geniesst die Sonne und viel Spass beim hören!!!
